Building in Europe

Thirty-five megalithic ruins exist on the islands of Malta and Gozo. Seven of the more impressive sites are on Gozo, the Gigantija complex, and, on Malta, the temples of Hagar Qim, Mnajdra, and Tarxien; the Ta' Hagrat and Skorba complexes; and the Hal Saflieni Hypogeum (an enormous dual-level, subterranean chamber under a surface shrine). The style of these temples is found nowhere else, yet their walls and ceilings, decorated with spirals painted with red ocher, suggest a connection with the Cro-Magnon cultures of the Pyrenees. (Before the Pharaohs)

In Malta's Hal Saflieni Hypogeum, estimated at twenty-two thousand tons of rock, there are long shafts carved from solid sandstone that descend thirty feet below the surface. The shafts lead to numerous odd rooms, including an altar, a long hallway, and a treasure vault. The entire structure appears to have been illuminated with polished stone mirrors arranged in periscope fashion in the shafts above. One chamber, found littered with bones from a previous age, exits to the outside through a long shaft where snakes and wild animals once fell to their death. There is also a reservoir, and a deep, tapering rain catcher. In another chamber a hollow exists in the wall where a priest may have spoken. His words could be heard in any room in the temple. Eerily, the entire structure seems to vibrate with sounds. Curiously, only low tones can be heard throughout the structure; high-pitched notes do not carry farther than the chamber itself. (Before the Pharaohs)

Throughout the island, where the bare rock is exposed, deep parallel lines, called cart ruts, wind their way, regardless of structures or land formations. Some lead into cliffs, others go under an arm of the sea, surfacing again on the opposite shore. Yet in other cases, the tracks are broken by a geological fault and continue at a different level. Many ruts are now covered by several feet of earth; fields having been formed on their sites. These cart ruts are likely the oldest evidence of Malta's civilization. Although found in abundance on the islands of Malta, they also exist in Sicily, Sardinia, Italy, Greece, southern France, and Cyrenaica. (Before the Pharaohs)

At the southeast end of the island of Malta, in the Bay of Marsa Scirocco, there are close to sixty round, bottlenecked pits, wells probably, carved into the rock. A number of these are now under the sea. Over the mouths of some of these wells run two deep cart ruts that lead into the sea and reappear on the opposite shore, about a quarter of a mile away. (Before the Pharaohs)

We descended to a flat, rocky bottom at a depth of about 18 metres and, though it was overgrown as usual with thick sea-grass, I could see the level plain extend to the limits of visibility on all sides of me. It seemed completely natural. But moments later Chris brought us to a clear, clean gap in the sea-grass caused by a channel - perhaps something more like a canal really - that ran straight for tens of metres through the bedrock. A little over 2 metres deep and about the same wide, its floor consisted of pure, white, level sand. The walls of the canal were cut down vertically into the bedrock on each side and did, very strongly, give the impression of being artificially formed. Here the canal was spanned by a 'bridge' flat on top and level with the surrounding plain. It too was a rock-hewn feature - a narrow section of the original bedrock that had simply been left in place when the canal was formed, and then hollowed out underneath into an archway through which the contents of the canal could flow. At depths of between 1O and 15 metres off Sliema Arrigo's footage showed a series of very large, almost 'monumental' canals and parallel' cart-ruts' much wider and deeper than those we had seen at Marfa and Qawra. Some of the canals cut through the bedrock in perfectly straight horizontal lines for more than 100 metres without any break. Then, beyond them, the camera came suddenly into an area of huge scattered megaliths. All were fallen except one which stood partially upright leaning at a drunken angle. (Underworld)

There are double parallel walls at Tiahuanaco, with large stones outside and the centre filled with soil, a method of building used in Crete and indeed allover the Middle East. (The God-Kings & the Titans)

Minoan houses were often three-storied, with plenty of home comforts. A row of Minoan villas would resemble a modern suburb. (The God-Kings & the Titans)

The treasury of Atreus at Mykenae was an architectural masterpiece of its period. The shape of the doorway appears again in America. (The God-Kings & the Titans)

The practice of collective interment in a family vault derives from the east Mediterranean and was the standard Cretan system of burial. It was practised by worshippers of the Earth-Mother. It possibly dates back to Mesolithic times with the Natufians, when collective burial in a cave was fashionable. Anyway, dry-walled rock-cut collective tombs were used in Crete from the second half of the third millennium BC. Many of the west European megalithic monuments bear symbols used by Mediterranean sailors and there are manifest signs of Mediterranean trade with western Europe as far north as Scandinavia. There are about 250 passage graves in the British Isles and about 2000 megalithic tombs so far discovered. Thorn, who writes about stone circles not tombs, says there are between five and ten thousand megaliths in Britain which stretch from a few in the south of England, widespread in Ireland, up the west of Scotland, the Hebrides, Orkney and Shetlands. (The God-Kings & the Titans)

Megalithic Sites in Britain by Alexander Thorn was published in 1967: Scattered throughout Britain there are thousands of Megalithic sites. A few of these are well known but the great majority lie off the beaten track in the fields and on the moors. Many are not even recognized (or obviously recognizable) as being Megalithic at all...the erection of 5000 to 10,000 megaliths must have made demands on its [Megalithic Britain's] engineers....One has only to think of the tremendous organizing effort which would be necessary to transport and erect numbers of stones some weighing up to 30 tons. Swampy ground might make it necessary to operate in winter when the ground was frozen. Think of feeding hundreds of men and the necessity of starting before dawn in the short winter day. We need not be surprised to find that their calendar was a highly developed arrangement involving an exact knowledge of the length of the year or that they had set up many stations for observing the 18-year cycle of the revolution of the lunar nodes...(called) the line of nodes. This line...completes a circuit in 18.6 years. (The Crystal Sun)

Other surprises keep piling up when we continue to analyze this gigantic triangle of France. If a fourth line is drawn from the Giant's Grave to the centre of the base between Provence and Brittany, it is just as rich in ruins of antiquity as the two sides of the triangle. The triangle has now an apex of 76°, two side angles of 52° each, two sides of 700 km, a base of 865 km, and a height of 550 km. Hold on to your hats - you have the exact same proportions and angles as the Great Pyramid of Cheops! The 'triangle of France' is exactly 14 million times bigger than the area of the cross section of the Cheops Pyramid. The surface of this triangle is 237,000 sq. km, and the area of the circle into which the Aegean Maltese cross could be placed is 237,000 sq. km, which is the same. (Our Cosmic Ancestors)

The cathedrals of France have another mystery in the pattern of their locations. If you paste over the map of France little gold stars in Abbeville, Amiens, Bayeux, Chartres, Evreux, Laon, Le Mans, Paris, Reims, and Rouen, where the most famous cathedrals stand in the middle of the cities, you have the same configuration as the stars in the constellation of Virgo. The main star in Virgo is Spica; this brilliant star has always been venerated as the goddess of fertility and maternity. (Our Cosmic Ancestors)

If we are bold enough to employ a unit of the Zil foot (zf) to this sacred formation, then the two pillars of Stonehenge now become: 22 X 7 Zil feet in height and width, or the Pi fraction. So here we have good evidence that the ancient Britons knew the value of Pi thousands of years ago and, to preserve it, they built it into their stone temple of Stonehenge...(Thoth: Architect of the Universe)

...the outer ring of Avebury is an exact four-fold copy of the outer ring at Stonehenge. So there is a direct correlation between circle lengths at Avebury and Stonehenge. The perimeter of the Avebury circle could be considered to be in a direct ratio to the circumference of the Earth, much the same as we saw for the Great Pyramid. This time, if we compare the two, we find that Avebury has very nearly a 36,600:1 ratio to the Earth; a ratio representing the number of days in a year.

It has aleady been shown that the centers of the barrows at Stonehenge are in exactly the right position to be representations of the Sun's pole, but the barrows themselves are circles that surround this central 'Sun's pole' position. So here at Stonehenge, we have a circle drawn around the Sun's pole, which is exactly the same as can be traced in the real heavens. This is clearly the function of these barrows; they are nothing less than precessional circles, marked out on an extremely ancient map of the Earth. They are precisely as one would draw them on a real diagram of the Earth, as seen from a point in space. (Thoth: Architect of the Universe)

This has to be the true function of the Avenue at Stonehenge: it sets out the baseline of this new Earth picture - it marks the equator of the Earth. Is it really coincidence that Stonehenge was constructed in the only location that will allow the sunrise to equal its latitude in this era? That it was constructed with angles and alignments that equal those of our real Earth? That it clearly predicts the motion of the axis of the Earth? ...Stonehenge embodies a precessional diagram in its layout, as denoted by the north and south barrows. (Thoth: Architect of the Universe)

...not only are the days in a year linked to the sacrec number 360, but so is the precessional cycle; it is one of those tricks of our measurement systems. We can now use this technique as a clock, to count the number of years to go until the stars do indeed return to their original positions, just as Diodorus said. This has been achieved at Stonehenge by the use of those magic little Aubrey holes again. The number of these holes at the great henge is quite fortuitous, for nothing else would work in quite the same fashion. The Stonehenge precessional clock starts with two markers, just like the hands of a clock; one big one, one little one. The little hand of this clock, instead of marking hours, in this case marks units of 360 years. The big hand in this precessional clock marks the smaller units, the minutes, in groups of 19 years. (Thoth: Architect of the Universe)

Now we know that the sites are intimately linked, we can join up the dots and see that the resulting layout is exactly the same at Avebury as it is at Dahshur - the angles between the monuments are the same at both sites. So we have another direct link between Avebury and Giza; again, it would appear that the same designer was at work on both sites. I started in Giza, where the layout of the pyramids seemed to mimic a planisphere of the stars. From there, the comparison was made with the Wessex monuments, which seem to copy the layout of the pyramids. Finally, there was the Uffington horse, which confirms the planisphere layout in the same way as the Sphinx does at Giza. The stellar layout of the henges is nearly complete. Stonehenge does, indeed, seem to mimic Giza in its role as the constellation of Orion. (Thoth: Architect of the Universe)

...every eight years Venus causes a double flash of light into the chamber of Maes Howe, 'the field of the evening after the sun has set' - how appropriate a name for a structure aligned with the evening star. (Uriel's Machine)

Everything - the structure, the colored light of the great windows, the images on the facades - was designed to accommodate this sense of wonder and gnosis. In the Gothic cathedrals, with their connection to Cybele, the Great Goddess, and the Black Madonnas, we find all the various threads of the ancient science of alchemy combined into one tangible mystereion designed to last through the ages. And the greatest of these Grail cathedrals is Notre-Dame-de-Paris, the cathedral of the philosophers. (The Mysteries of the Great Cross of Hendaye)

I don’t dispute that the Romans could and did move enormous blocks of stone when they wanted to. Indeed, the evidence for that is all around me in the space between the Temple of Bacchus and the Temple of Jupiter, where heaps of carved and engraved blocks from the fallen pediments of both structures lie scattered. They are, without question, Roman, some of them weigh in the range of 100 tons or more, one weighs 360 tons, and all of them were raised almost 70 feet (21 meters) above the ground—the height of the columns on which they were perched. (Magicians of the Gods)

...the diameter of southwest England’s circular monument at Avebury equals that of Newark’s Great Circle in northern Ohio...Britain’s Maiden Castle (from the Keltic mai-dun for “great hill”), in Dorset, features eastern and western gateways virtually identical in their complexity to an Adena hill-fort in Butler County, Ohio, located near the town of Hamilton. (The Lost History of Ancient America)

Gornaya Shoria, southern Siberia, Russia. First discovered in 2013, the stones at this site are even more massive than those at Baalbek. Some are estimated to weigh 4,000 tons or more, and they’re stacked 130 feet (40 meters) high. (Humans are Not from Earth)

The faults and their orientation; the nature of the earth (granite, quartz etc); the placement and the structure of certain menhirs and dolmens, suggest that they are . . . perhaps not generators or transformers, but at least receptors of energy. the geometry, astronomy, geology, earthquakes and electro-magnetic phenomena, I see not only a logical sequence, but also five motifs, which, not taken one by one, but united because they are dependent on each other, seem to me to be the primary reason for the erection of megaliths in the region of Carnac and of Locmariaquer. . . . I say, “the first reason” but what was the final objective? The essential objective was to obtain certain effects on the human body.  The megaliths literally materialized a certain vital force, and if we consider their magnetic and electric context, they are then stones for the living (Mereaux 1992). (Spirits in Stone

We studied the archaeoacoustic properties of an ancient hypogeum in Cividale del Friuli (north of Italy).  This hypogeum consists of various underground spaces below the surface, carved out of the conglomerate with different levels and branches. Its shape looks rough to the careless eye, but in reality despite the alterations over the centuries, the builders made full use of the shape of the rooms to take advantage of the resonance phenomenon, obtained during prayers and mystic songs. In particular resonance effects were detected in two of the six chambers, and these maintain the original shape, with an arched shape along the top. There is also a small truss on the end wall that seems to have been specifically built to tune up the room for a male voice singing or praying. The male voice is absolutely necessary to stimulate the resonate response phenomenon as the two chambers are tuned to 94 and 102 Hz. (Spirits in Stone)

Thus, the true function of the Irish round-towers is quite astounding, for their history has more synergy with the British and Irish henges than the doctrines of Rome. In fact, the origin of the round-tower is more obscure than even this, for the design came to Ireland straight out of Egypt. The round-towers are simply copies of the most sacred site at Heliopolis, the Benben tower. In their form as round towers; in their conical tops; in their obvious sacred and solar significance; and in the light of all that has been said of the Stellan religion, they can be nothing else. Somehow, at some time, the traditions of Egypt have slipped into Ireland. (Jesus: Last of the Pharaohs

The parallels between the Dogon house and the house at Skara Brae arguably include matching architectural plans, mtching construction styles and methods, matching linguistic supports, and matching cosmo1ogical schemes, and so they could represent spcciflcally matched symbolic structures. ...the eight structures at Skara Brae might have served to house the eight members of each instructed "class" during their tenure as initiates at the site. Likewise, the presumed instructional focus on skills of agriculture might cxplain the absence of fishing-related items among the artifacts excavated at the village. To all outward appearances, Orkney Island served as a kind of pre dynastic instructional center, and its apparent focus was primarily on agriculture. The pastoral farming life that clearly thrived for centuries on the island bore a relationship to the cosmology enshrined there that is similar to the one born by dynastic Egyptian culture to its comparable creation tradition, which the Egyptians also felt compelled to enshrine in stone. (The Mystery of Skara Brae)

As is the case for Gobekli Tepe, evidence suggests to some researchers that at the time that various structures of Skara Brae were abandomed, they were carefully, deliberately, and ritually buried, as if to preserve them for posterity.
